Sometimes in life, we experience ill health effects or demoralising spiritual setbacks with no clear cause in sight. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you it’s just a side effect of getting older – parts of you simply start to ache and give trouble.
However, this isn’t simply something you have to put up with – in fact, these seemingly spontaneous problems can often be traced back to a more fundamental spiritual issue: a problem with one of our seven major chakras. Linked closely to the health of both spirit and body, the chakras are the point at which our energy flows most strongly. A blockage or injury there can often have wide-ranging effects, and may not be specific to the affected chakra. If you’d like to learn more, read on.
What are the Chakras?
Chakra is a word derived from the ancient Sanskrit word for a wheel or vortex, and this translation helps us to envision roughly what a chakra is.
Our physical bodies are animated by an energy which overlaps and suffuses them – the spirit or subtle body. Made from ever-flowing energy, the subtle body has major points where this energy gathers, flowing through the chakras and connecting to the physical body.
If you imagine the flow of energy through the body as water flowing through a stream, the chakras are the points where the stream drains away to the next part of its journey. Using that analogy, it’s easy to see how something could go wrong – a blocked exit means the stream backs up, floods and becomes stagnant, which an over-active one means the stream will drain too fast and run dry.
If we want to care for ourselves and others, we need to care for our chakras.
The Seven Chakras
There are hundreds of minor chakras all over our bodies, but the most important lie along the centre of the greatest energy exchange in the body – the central nervous system. Responsible for creating the most important signals in the body and transmitting them effectively, the central nervous system is vital to keeping the body alive and manifesting the wishes of the spirit.
These seven chakras are the root chakra, at the base of the spine, and in order of ascension up the spinal column: the sacral chakra, the stomach chakra, the heart chakra, the throat chakra, the third eye chakra and the crown chakra.
Each corresponds roughly to a section of the body, and correlates to a number of spiritual facets of our personalities – so a dysfunction in one could be felt in many different ways.
How do the Chakras Affect My Health?
As mentioned above, the chakras aren’t just energetic constructs; they are a link between parts of our subtle body and parts of our physical body. Clear, healthy chakras promote clear, healthy flow of energy, in turn keeping us happy, full of life and free from ailments. A blocked, chakra, however, can mean a host of problems – the nature of which depends on the chakra that is blocked.
Whichever it is, however, don’t wait for it to become more serious – talk to the Modern Mystery School today for help.
How Can I Tell If I Have a Blocked Chakra?
If you have a blocked chakra, you may feel that a part of you is “out of balance” or that you are unable to align your energies properly. Depending on the affected chakra, you may experience physical symptoms like headaches, loss of appetite, intestinal discomfort or lack of energy and exhaustion; or the symptoms may be more energetic in nature, with anxiety, unhappiness, listlessness and worry all among the top signs we see that a student is suffering from an imbalance in their chakras.
