Astral Travel is defined as “The practice of moving one’s spiritual body outside of the confines of one’s physical body”. It has been known to wise men, shamans, spiritual practitioners and religious people since the dawn of time, with similar accounts of “out-of-body experiences” appearing all over the world throughout human history.
In the past, only a small fragment of the human race had the opportunity to practice astral travel – the pressures of day-to-day survival, oppressive spiritual institutions and lack of knowledge of the supernatural prevented most people from accessing this side of themselves. Now, however, the world has entered a new age – The Information Age – and almost everyone has the knowledge, capability and opportunity to learn to send their spiritual body out of their material shell and into the Astral Plane!
Can I Learn to Astral Travel?
Astral projection is something which everyone can do, and while some people take to it like ducks to water, others have to work considerably harder to see any progress. If at first you don’t succeed, don’t get disheartened! Sometimes laying the foundations for successful, safe astral travel takes many months or years of focus and work.
How Can I Get Started?
When you are first learning how to Astral Project, it is important to have a solid understanding of what it is that you are attempting, the potential pitfalls along the way and the right way to avoid these – while it can theoretically be attempted alone, many people have reported experiences with predatory entities in the other world, which can “drain your energy” and otherwise feed on your spiritual body.
Others have claimed that hostile entities attempted to prevent them from re-entering their body, or attempted to enter it themselves. Therefore, it is usually considered wise to have an expert guide.
Certain meditation classes can provide the guidance and experience needed to safely teach astral projection, but what is generally considered to be the safest way to learn astral projection is to learn under the tutelage of a master of one of the great Mystery Schools – like the Modern Mystery School.
Are There Any Ways to Make It Easier to Astral Project?
There are a few tips that can make your first out-of-body experience easier and more accessible. First, you can use an alarm clock to wake yourself up an hour earlier than you need to, and allow yourself to drift back into sleep shortly after waking. This will allow you to resume physically sleeping very quickly, while your mind remains alert. In the space between sleeping and waking (the hypnagogic state) you will find it easier to separate the astral and physical bodies.
Secondly, you can try to engage your senses. The senses are the means by which the soul experiences the outside world, so by using them – for example, by lighting a candle, burning some incense or listening to the sounds of the world around you – you can become more aware of your spiritual form and its difference from your corporeal body, making it easier to separate the two.
However, the best advice on astral projection can’t be given by a blog post – it can only be revealed by someone who has mastered the techniques themselves and walked in the dreamwilds for long enough to truly understand them. These teachers can be found in the mystery schools – particularly the Modern Mystery School!
